WHO established World No Tobacco Day in 1987 to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and its deadly consequences.

Tobacco products are products for the manufacture of which tobacco leaves are used as raw materials and which are intended for smoking, sucking, chewing or snorting. All such products contain nicotine, a psychotropic component that is highly addictive.

Tobacco smoke is harmful not only to the smoker himself, but also to those who are near him. Inhaling air containing tobacco smoke is called passive smoking. There is no safe level of exposure to second-hand smoke. Research has shown that the dangers of secondhand smoke are very real. The smoke coming from a lit cigarette is unfiltered smoke and contains 50 times more carcinogens, twice the amount of tar and nicotine, five times more carbon monoxide and 50 times more ammonia than smoke inhaled through a cigarette.

Tobacco-related diseasesare one of the largest threats to public health, with more than 7 million people dying each year due to tobacco use. According to the International Union Against Cancer (UICC), 30% of all cancer deaths are related to smoking. But tobacco use is one of the leading preventable causes of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Eradication of smoking is one of the effective measures to improve the health of the population.

Today there are many methods and ways to get rid of this bad habit.

It is necessary that every person can breathe air free from tobacco smoke.

If you care about yourself and your loved ones, quit smoking as soon as possible!  Health to you!
