World Patient Safety Day

September 17 – World Patient Safety Day

Topic of the day – “Improving diagnostics for patient safety”

As part of the Health Day, thematic information and educational events, consultations with specialists on the implementation of treatment and diagnostic procedures are held in healthcare organizations of the Brest region.

Patient safety culture. Recommendations for the population.

  1. Remember that the basis of your health and well-being is disease prevention, which includes a whole range of activities: quitting smoking and alcohol abuse, maintaining normal weight, proper nutrition, physical activity, strengthening the immune system (adequate sleep, using dietary supplements, including vitamin D3, minerals), observing hygiene rules.
  2. Try to seek medical help in a timely manner so as not to waste time and not turn the problem into a chronic one.
  3. When visiting a doctor, provide complete and accurate information about your health and the problems that have arisen – this is important for making the correct diagnosis.
  4. Do not hesitate to ask questions if you are a patient or a relative/legal representative to get more information about the disease, its causes and course, about the prevention of complications and the correct tactics in case of problems.
  5. Inform health workers about any deviations in your health or health of the person receiving medical care.
  6. Get a second opinion if you need more information to make a decision about your health, and be sure to discuss this with your doctor.
  7. Be polite and tactful. Remember that rude behavior can have a negative impact on treatment outcomes. Studies have shown that staff who have experienced or witnessed rude behavior from patients or their families have a reduced ability to effectively perform some of their simpler tasks and procedures.

Don’t make mistakes, remember safety!
