Не прожигай свою жизнь!

On November 4, the Emergencies Ministry campaign “Don’t burn your life away!” starts in Brest.

“Drank-lit-fell asleep” is the formula for a fire that annually takes the lives of smokers. Careless handling of fire while smoking is one of the main causes of fires in the Republic of Belarus. The statistics on fire incidents that occurred for this reason are not encouraging: in the first 10 months of 2024, 1,010 “cigarette” fires were recorded in the republic, and 259 people died.

In order to prevent fires and deaths from them due to careless handling of fire while smoking, a republican information and propaganda campaign “Don’t burn your life away!” will be held from November 4 to 27.

The venues for the events will be dormitories (including student dormitories), higher and secondary specialized educational institutions, railway stations and bus stations, and shopping facilities.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations employees will organize interactive classes, master classes on the use of primary fire extinguishing equipment, first aid, remind about the consequences of the bad habit, demonstrate the operation of an autonomous fire alarm, and video clips “Victims of a Bad Habit.”

The Ministry of Emergency Situations propaganda workers will use quizzes, competitions, photo exhibitions, intellectual QUIZ games, open dialogues, thematic platforms and much more to tell student youth about the dangers of smoking, give examples of fires and deaths from them due to careless handling of fire while smoking.

During the campaign, intensive fire prevention work will be carried out in the residential sector. The Ministry of Emergency Situations workers will visit citizens’ homes and apartments, reminding them of the need to comply with fire safety rules.

Join the Ministry of Emergency Situations events to win the fight against the bad habit, “not to burn your life away” and make it safe!

Over the past period of 2024, 81 fires have been registered in the city of Brest, 10 people have died. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds: take care of yourself and your loved ones – comply with fire safety rules.
